Unlocking your iPhone (AT&T iPhone 4s in my case)

12/9/12

I'm shocked that it has taken me this long. Embarrassed even. But here it goes. I've been meaning to investigate the process of unlocking my US iphone for some time now and just haven't gotten to it. Until today. The purpose (for me) would be to have the ability to use it overseas when I travel for more than just a wifi device.
So, if you are an AT&T customer and interested in the process here you go. It's simple and takes minutes:

First you need to fill out a simple form on AT&T's website. You need basic account information and the IMEI number (this can be found by going to Settings then General then About)
Form to request your iphone be unlocked

Now you just patiently await AT&T to get back to you. They indicate they will get back to you within 7 business days

And here is the link to check the status of your unlock request:
Check your unlock request

Best of luck saavy travelers!

*Update*

Just received the email today that I was eligible for the unlock. It was simple. Had to back up my phone, then restore it, and voila! Success!

  2. Very good information . It will definitely help AT&T customers to unlock their mobile. After reading your article I Submitted a request to unlock my iPhone 4S . But ,They rejected my request saying I need to wait until my contract is Over which is two years .So,I searched many sites and found Remote Unlock Service to unlock iPhone 4S for reasonable price in SuperUnlockCodes.com . I got the service and unlocked my iPhone 4S .

  3. Hey,I've seen...UnlockediPhone.me...and felt like I must to check this out.
Today's morning, I woke up and this service unlocked my iPhone 4S and my friend's iPhone 5c in a few hours, it was for free! Why would you even pay if you can get it so quickly for free? I'm not one of this bots who are spamming, I'm only trying to give an advice for everyone who really needs it!?Thank you so much!!

  4. I support NONE of the above comments lol...
I simply wrote this about how I unlocked my phone (which I actually no longer have but my mom is using...still unlocked) for free. Enjoy and if you want to risk the spammy sites that people commented with, then do so at your own risk! I personally would not!
