Black biscuits in chocolate Kit Kat

Image
1/29/11 Found a new addition to my Kit Kat enterprise. Today while wandering the streets in Nago, I popped into a drugstore (?) and low and behold this beauty was right in front of me! How could I resist the newest flavor? Taste testers hold onto your seats because here comes... Black biscuits in chocolate Kit Kats

Nago Pineapple Park

Image
1/22/11 Today was a marvelous day in all meanings of the word! The weather was perfect, the sun was out, the sea was turquoise, and I went to the Disney of pineapples. It was fantastic! Pineapple Park is a total tourist attraction if there ever was one, but why not go to a place where you ride around in a pineapple shaped golf cart that drives itself?! There is a winery on site that makes (and sells more importantly) pineapple wine. I did come home with two bottles; sparkling pineapple wine, and dry pineapple wine. Both were rather fantastic...and I did sample everything they had to offer (without an allergic reaction!) Pineapple Park also brought a new Kit Kat to my collection (Beni-Imo) so that was fun, I can't wait for my taste testers to try it out! Ufuya (means Big House) After Pineapple Park we ventured to a restaurant called Ufuya. Turns out there are no signs in English to locate this place, but it was worth the searching (and drive through a cemetery) to get the...

Beach Hopping

Image
1/16/11 Full Rainbow Today I went with some colleagues on an island beach hopping adventure. Although the weather didn't always cooperate, it was still nothing short of amazing. During the adventure we saw many rainbows, even some double rainbows (no I didn't freak out like the guy on Youtube). I put my hands in the ocean (not too cold, but not warm enough for me to get in), collected some beautiful shells, and soaked up the sun when it made it's appearances! On to some important news...I have resumed my Kit Kat search...and guess what, I found a new flavor today! Strawberry Cake! So all of you who have enjoyed the Kit Kats, buckle your seat belts, I'm trying to top the flavors that I brought home before! I put a few of my favorite pics in this post and then all of them in the slide show...enjoy!

The Kit Kat Collection

Image
7/3/10 Well, here it is, the long awaited Kit Kat collection...pretty impressive if I don't say so myself! Yes I am back in the states, Yes I have jet lag, if you ask me how bad it is, I'm likely to bite your head off as I haven't slept much in the past 3 days (probably about 8 hours collectively)...I suggest keeping your distance for a good week. Until then I will continue to think happy thoughts that this miserable jet lag will pass...puppies, kittens, my extensive Kit Kat collection

Dynamic Tokyo Tour

Image
6/19/10 Today got up bright and early (5:30am I thank you very much) to go on the Dynamic Tokyo Tour. We had to walk to another hotel to meet the tour group/bus to then be transported to a bus station to get on a different bus. This was a great way to see the city because 1. I didn't have to walk and 2. because someone was telling me what everything was! First stop was the Tokyo Tower. The tower is used for news and media and is approximately 330 meters high. We went to the observation deck which was about half way up (plenty for me thank you!) Second stop was the Happoen Garden for a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. There were several weddings going on at this garden (17 to be exact on this particular day).  Next we had a traditional Japanese style barbecue lunch that was to die for. It was cooked in front of us on a stone (rubber stone from Mt Fuji). Fourth we went on a river cruise on the Sumida River to Asakusa (which is a fantastic shopping area in Tokyo for traditi...

I hit the mother load...

6/18/10 Today was an amazing day...first of all, ma dukes arrived in Tokyo for our two week adventure. In the Kit Kat world things have been moving and shaking! I essentially doubled my collection while waiting for my mom at the airport. I have added the following flavors: Citrus Golden Blend Flavor Apple (just guessing by the package design) Melon Corn on the cob Cherry blossom green tea Semi-sweet chocolate Raspberry and Passion Fruit We have a busy day tomorrow with the "Dynamic Tokyo Tour"...hopefully the rain stops so we can actually take a picture or two! Until the next time, happy Kit Kat hunting!

Tokyo (Shibuya) 6/12/10-6/13/10

Image
Otherwise titled: The weekend away (for luxury and pampering) from the dump that we currently reside in! For some reason I don't think that whole title will fit within the blogs settings! At any rate, we went to Tokyo, really we checked into the hotel (which seemed like the Biltmore compared to where we have been staying), and then headed out to Shibuya on a mission. My mission was to find at least 1 new Kit Kat flavor to bring to my collection. I failed miserably (I know, disappointing!) I was able to finally capture (photographically speaking) the smoking man that I walk by daily. I mean, wouldn't this guy make you want to smoke a pack of Winstons?! Don't lie. I mean, do you think you could pull off those jean shorts...I THINK NOT! Thank you Winstons. Shibuya was pretty swell...it's just one of the many sections of Tokyo. There were tons of different stores and eating options. We opted for a little Italian joint (I know Italian in Japan...blah blah) and it was...

It's a party in my mouth!

6/2/10 In addition to the Kit Kats coming in what I guess I will call "unique" flavors. Many of their chips also have some interesting flavors and names as well! I am not even going to start a collection of these things too, the Kit Kats are bad enough, but the names on these two containers had me at...hello! Being in Japan there are some foods that I definitely miss and these two mini cans of Pringles captured them perfectly. The Pringles cans both say " funpicnic " for the flavor, but the picture tells a completely different story... Flavor 1: Cheese fries. Flavor 2: Chicken wings I don't know what kind of picnics they have here, but I clearly need to be invited to one if cheese fries and chicken wings are involved. Hell, I never had those on any picnic I went on!

Alas, we have new Kit Kats!

Image
6/2/10 Finally! New Kit Kats ! I'm happy to report that I have stumbled upon two new flavors of Kit Kats today while out and about in Japan town! First up we have what they call "bitter almond". I actually tried this one and it's quite good. I'm guessing it got it's name because of the dark chocolate, I could be wrong. The next flavor is a complete mystery to me. I did try this one and I will say nothing more because someone reading this blog is going to get the pleasure of trying it, and I'm not telling who :) Anyways, there is no "name" for the flavor, which to me looks like a cup of yogurt with green jelly gobs floating in it. Kit Kats have been scarce lately, but rest assured, I am searching in every nook and cranny possible to bring you the widest variety of flavors known to man!

More Kit Kats!

Image
5/17/10 I am happy to say that I scored 2 new flavors of Kit Kats today! One that looks like Raspberry cake or raspberry cheese cake, and the other that I like to call Flan flavored Kit Kats (Adina thinks that there's a good chance its Creme Brulee Kit Kat, but I guess we will find out when they get cracked open!) I'm hoping that I find something like hotdog flavored Kit Kats (since they love hotdogs so much here!)

Double or nothing!

Image
5/17/10 So yesterday was a very prosperous day in terms of my Kit Kat search! In a mere 24 hours I have doubled my stash! I have what I would refer to as the "holy grail" of Kit Kats...I added the following flavors: Wasabi, Soy Sauce, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Japanese Chili Pepper! I don't know how I will top these flavors, but I certainly plan on trying!

Kit Kat Collection 5/15/10

Image
On a more positive note, my Kit Kat collection is growing nicely! I have included a picture of my collection thus far, it is missing a couple that I sent home to my parents to try (I believe the flavors were English Tea, and Strawberry Cheesecake!). Among other obscure foods and candies, Japan is notorious for some interestingly flavored Kit Kats, half of the fun is finding them (it's rumored that stores will only carry one flavor for a short time!) I'm on a mission to find a soy sauce or wasabi flavored Kit Kat!
