Strawberry toes

Of course I had to go to one of my favorite places here in Okinawa before boarding the plane and heading back to the land of horrible pedicures...Cocok's provided the pampering that I needed, and left me with the most perfect strawberry toes. I love them!

As I prepare to leave Okinawa, for a second time, I'm reminded of all of the things that I love about this wonderful place, the things that I will take with me forever, and the things that I will miss terribly. The latter are as follows:

1. The 5:30 music that plays indicating the end of the work day, dismissing people to go be with their families (and what happy music it is)

2. The most amazing park, merely a mile from my "home"

3. By far the world's best pedicures. Find a better one, I dare you!

4. My crossfit family. SCF will forever hold a very special place in my heart. I hope to see you all again soon!

5. The food. How is this #5, especially with how much I ate, and how often I thought of food?!


6. My car that talked to me at various points in the city. I have yet to figure out what "she" said, my guess is that she was warning me about cameras at the lights...but, that is a guess, and probably a terrible one.

7. The lovely neon glow that peeked through my curtains if I didn't close them just right. You know, from the fine establishments known as "love hotel alley" 

8. The outdoor adventures with good friends

9. The overly cheery man at the park who always made sure to say/shout "ohayou gozaimasu" every morning that I walked

10. The beautiful sunrises that welcome the day

11. Engrish

4/17/16 So a few days ago I got my daith pierced (4/13 actually). I had done a bit of research on it. Honestly just trying to figure out if this was going to be a breeze or the mother bitch of all piercings. I have several piercings but since my mom reads my blog I won't to into all those details here (you're welcome mom!). From what I read it sounded like it would be a breeze, similar to nose, which honestly I didn't feel until they put the jewelry in. Lies. Complete bullshit in fact. Bali Day 11: A Balinese FULL Body Massage, Nature, and What I've Google'd Today

12/26/17 Things I’ve googled today: is there arranged marriage in Bali Which then led to a very intriguing read about polygamy and how in certain areas in Indonesia it exists but usually only in the very poor, and the very rich (like high government officials and religious personnel) kind of makes you raise an eyebrow if it’s ok for the super well to do, but then viewed differently when the very poor do it. A status symbol for the rich men to take many wives. And a survival or barbaric and primal existence for those of a lower class. So interesting. I've also googled: How do American's buy property in Bali. Come to find out you can't technically have property in your name in Bali but there are 3 different and common workarounds to getting your dream villa. Yes I seriously need to know how to buy a villa. Like yesterday Sapiosexual, and a million other fill in the blank with sexual at the end words that people use on Tinder. Hiking Hawaii (on acompressed schedule); Makapu'u Lighthouse, Manoa Falls, Waimea Falls, Dole Plantation

6/22/19 With only one weekend for fun stuff and exploring while in Hawaii on a business trip, I knew that I had to make the most of my very limited time. There was no doubt that hiking would be a major part of those plans! I had intended on waking up around 4:30 am and heading to Koko Crater to kick the day off, but a week full of battling jet lag finally caught me and sleep won in the end. Hike 1: Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail Starting a little later than planned (6:30am) I headed off to a my first destination, Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail. The drive from Waikiki to the light house was beautiful, along the coast, with several scenic stop offs that I took full advantage of, putting me even further behind schedule but with some added in Hawaii experiences too! This park opens at 7am (something I hadn't previously known) Makapu'u Trail is completely paved the entire way up. I wore my hiking shoes but would have been very happy doing it in my Chacos.
