Tokyo (Shibuya) 6/12/10-6/13/10

Otherwise titled: The weekend away (for luxury and pampering) from the dump that we currently reside in! For some reason I don't think that whole title will fit within the blogs settings!

At any rate, we went to Tokyo, really we checked into the hotel (which seemed like the Biltmore compared to where we have been staying), and then headed out to Shibuya on a mission. My mission was to find at least 1 new Kit Kat flavor to bring to my collection. I failed miserably (I know, disappointing!)

I was able to finally capture (photographically speaking) the smoking man that I walk by daily. I mean, wouldn't this guy make you want to smoke a pack of Winstons?! Don't lie.

I mean, do you think you could pull off those jean shorts...I THINK NOT! Thank you Winstons.

Shibuya was pretty swell...it's just one of the many sections of Tokyo. There were tons of different stores and eating options. We opted for a little Italian joint (I know Italian in Japan...blah blah) and it was fantastic, the pizza was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect!

We spent the entire day walking around and I'm not kidding you when I say we probably walked at least 10 miles. Thankfully it was a beautiful, sunny, I love Japan kind of day!

We got back to the hotel and dined at one of their many restaurants...a wonderful 5 course dinner with grapefruit sorbet tucked in the middle (to cleanse the pallet of course!). By the time the 5th course came around (my praline cheesecake) I could barely take a few bites. Oh and let me tell you about my cocktail...Key Lime Martini, with crushed graham cracker crumbs lining the glass. It was wonderfully amazing. All you key limers would have LOVED it! You know who you are...!

The next morning (6/13) we at the most amazing brunch...I mean seriously, the best brunch I've ever had. I felt like I was going to puke by the time I walked out but it was well worth every bite and calorie! After that it was pampering with spa services and home. I will post separately about the spa experience because it deserves it's on post!

4/17/16 So a few days ago I got my daith pierced (4/13 actually). I had done a bit of research on it. Honestly just trying to figure out if this was going to be a breeze or the mother bitch of all piercings. Bali Day 11: A Balinese FULL Body Massage, Nature, and What I've Google'd Today

12/26/17 Things I’ve googled today: is there arranged marriage in Bali Which then led to a very intriguing read about polygamy and how in certain areas in Indonesia it exists but usually only in the very poor, and the very rich (like high government officials and religious personnel) kind of makes you raise an eyebrow if it’s ok for the super well to do, but then viewed differently when the very poor do it. A status symbol for the rich men to take many wives. And a survival or barbaric and primal existence for those of a lower class. So interesting. I've also googled: How do American's buy property in Bali. Come to find out you can't technically have property in your name in Bali but there are 3 different and common workarounds to getting your dream villa. Hiking Hawaii (on acompressed schedule); Makapu'u Lighthouse, Manoa Falls, Waimea Falls, Dole Plantation

6/22/19 With only one weekend for fun stuff and exploring while in Hawaii on a business trip, I knew that I had to make the most of my very limited time. There was no doubt that hiking would be a major part of those plans! I had intended on waking up around 4:30 am and heading to Koko Crater to kick the day off, but a week full of battling jet lag finally caught me and sleep won in the end. Hike 1: Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail Starting a little later than planned (6:30am) I headed off to a my first destination, Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail. The drive from Waikiki to the light house was beautiful, along the coast, with several scenic stop offs that I took full advantage of, putting me even further behind schedule but with some added in Hawaii experiences too! This park opens at 7am (something I hadn't previously known) Makapu'u Trail is completely paved the entire way up. I wore my hiking shoes but would have been very happy doing it in my Chacos.
